No strike at the Morning Star

Issue No. 2207

Journalists at the left wing Morning Star newspaper called off a strike planned for last Sunday after accepting a new pay deal.

The NUJ union members had voted to strike over management’s refusal to negotiate over its pay offer.

Management then offered staff a pay rise of £900 this year, as part of a two-year deal. There is also a new rate for working anti-social hours.

Workers accepted this offer in a meeting. They are glad that they have beaten off attempts to weaken their union organisation.

This follows union members winning a 5 percent pay increase last year after threatening to strike.
