‘Bank levy’ lets the bankers off

Issue No. 2207

The Tories are finally “making the bankers pay” – but it’s a derisory amount.

Osborne imposed a bank levy that will be set at 0.04 percent when it is introduced next year.

The technical details would be agreed with the bankers “over the summer,” the government said.

Share prices of all Britain’s banks rose on the announcement.
