Pilkington tile workers hold protest over cuts

Issue No. 2208

Workers at Pilkington Ceramic Tiles in Swinton, Salford, protested at their factory on Monday over job cuts. The company went into administration last week.

It is now planning to slash 204 out of 343 workers at the factory.

None of the workers are set to get redundancy payments, even though some have worked at the plant for more than 40 years. A minority of them are in the Unite union.
