Refuse workers in Sandwell, West Midlands, have begun an unofficial work-to-rule. They are set to lose up to £8,000 a year under a “single status” pay deal.
The members of the Unite and GMB unions have now voted for official action by 97 and 95 percent respectively. The members need to keep up the pressure for action.
Management, in an attempt to crush the action, suspended a Unite steward for “intimidating the council”. But the work-to-rule continues.
