Flying into more volcanic danger

Issue No. 2209

The government is set to make it easier for airlines to fly planes through dangerous volcanic ash.

It plans to allow them to take their own decisions on whether it is safe to fly or not.

The safety body, Nats, will release the new guidelines at the end of the month.

Under Gordon Brown’s government, British Airways boss Willie Walsh successfully pushed to ease the restrictions.

Now the Tories are set to jeopardise our safety further—and all to protect airlines’ profits.
