No pay rise at Astrum? No tanks

Issue No. 2210

Around 200 workers struck at the Astrum plant in Stanhope, County Durham, on Thursday of last week over the lack of a pay rise.

The GMB and Unite union members, who make tank tracks, were set to strike on Wednesday of this week, and that of next week. They were also holding an overtime ban.

The company has recently secured an extension to a Ministry of Defence contract, which could be worth up to £60 million.
