The Great Game: Afghanistan

Issue No. 2211

This is an impressive festival exploring Afghan culture and history through 12 plays, a five-day film programme, a ceramic exhibition and discussion sessions.

It returns to the Tricycle Theatre for a second year from 23 July until 29 August.

“The Great Game” was a term used for the strategic rivalry between the British and Russian empires for supremacy in Central Asia.

The continuing conflict in Afghanistan has led many artists to look at the state of the country and people’s rights, through their work.
