Unions back anti-Tory demo

Issue No. 2211

Two more national unions last week backed the demonstration at the Tory Party conference in Birmingham on Sunday 3 October.

The PCS and NUJ have joined the UCU in supporting the march.

The left wing Labour Representation Committee is also backing the protest.

Every trade unionist, especially those in the unions supporting the protest nationally, should be raising the demonstration in their workplace and union branch.

And Socialist Worker also hopes that other unions will get behind this chance to take the anger against the cuts directly to the Tories.

The demo can be a way for students, pensioner groups, anti-war, anti-racism and anti-cuts campaigners to bring their issues together.

A successful march in Birmingham can lift all the battles against the cuts.
