THERE IS a gathering movement against the government's testing of school children. The executive of the largest teachers' union, the National Union of Teachers (NUT), is planning to ballot for a boycott of the SATs tests children in England take at seven and 11.

Now the National Association for the Teaching of English is meeting in London to discuss opposition to new SATs tests for 14 year olds.

Wednesday 29 January, 6.30pm, Friends Meeting House, Euston Road.

Waltham Forest NUT, meeting on SATs, Tuesday 21 January, 4.30pm, Education Centre, Queen's Road, London.
