Health activists have launched a petition opposing the Tories’ vicious privatisation threat to the NHS.
The letter is backed by the NHS Support Federation, as well as the Unite and Unison unions, the National Pensioners’ Convention and Keep Our NHS Public.
Every trade unionist and activist needs to get their name on it now—and then get MPs, councillors, GPs, tenants associations and community groups to sign up as well.
The petition says the Tories’ “white paper” is a threat to the existance of the NHS. It is a plan to break the health service up into sections and sell it off piece by piece.
Local GP services would be run by private companies.
Hospitals would be turned into businesses, treating people based on their wealth instead of their health.
Every penny that goes to the privateers in profit is one that doesn’t go to patients.
The NHS already loses one pound from every seven in its budget this way—and the number is set to soar.
Time is short to build a massive campaign to defend the NHS. But the health service’s enduring popularity makes it more than possible to build the broadest support.
