Vote rejects NHS privatisation

Issue No. 2217

Workers who transport patients between hospitals for South London Healthcare NHS Trust have voted to strike over plans to privatise their work.

Savoy Ventures Ltd have told the 78 GMB union members who are being transferred from London Ambulance Service that their existing pay and conditions will not be honoured.

Savoy plans to scrap the final salary pension scheme, alter shift patterns and remove workers’ outer London weighting, worth £4,100 a year.
