Socialist Worker

Activists and reps in the RMT union London region held their monthly meeting last Thursday. There was real anger about the recent derailments on the tube and real unity over the need to act.

RMT general secretary Bob Crow spoke about the coming ballot over safety and the need to campaign and build for solid action. But there was equal anger and bitterness at the meeting over the leadership's decision to sign up to, and recommend, a pay settlement.

The challenge now is to build the ballot over safety, but also to build confidence among the rank and file to fight over pay, pensions and working hours.
