Boris Johnson’s friend gets bank job

Bob Diamond, a banker with a fortune estimated at £95 million, is to be the next chief executive of Barclays.

Even Lord Mandelson once described him as the unacceptable face of banking.

A close friend of Boris Johnson, he was said to have been the driving force behind the London mayor’s high profile cycling initiative, in which Barclays plastered its name and logo on bicycles all over the capital.
