TUC calls for an end to blacklisting

Issue No. 2219

The TUC condemned the blacklisting of trade unionists.

It called for new legislation that would go beyond the law passed by the previous Labour government which simply enabled blacklisted workers to take cases to Employment Tribunals.

As Alan Ritchie from the Ucatt union argued, “Ending the scourge of blacklisting is a matter of urgency.”

On Monday evening, a fringe meeting saw the premiere of a new documentary on the use of blacklisting in the construction industry as well as contributions from blacklisted construction workers.
