Socialist Worker

The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists

Issue No. 2220

Based on the classic 1914 novel, this play tells the story of a group of painters, struggling to live in a recession.

Among the painters is Frank Owen. He tries to persuade his workmates that there is another way of life that could be pursued—one based on co-operation, rather than competition.
