Campaign to keep name of Hackney's CLR James library

by Christian Hogsbjerg
Issue No. 2221

The CLR James Library in east London, named after the late, great Trinidadian Marxist historian CLR James, is under threat.

Hackney council apparently prefers the bland name “Dalston Library and Archives.”

The library was named in 1985 in recognition of the profound contribution James made in shaping multicultural Britain.

Activists have launched a campaign to save the CLR James library.
