Campaign against deportation of Flora Oyinloye

Issue No. 2221

Campaigners are pleased that a threatened deportation in Swinton, Salford, did not go ahead.

Some 15 people protested outside Flora Oyinloye’s home on Monday of last week after the UK Borders Agency (UKBA) said it would visit her and that she should remain there with her children.

Flora lives in an area covered by a pilot scheme to encourage deportation of families with children, without detaining them, as exposed in Socialist Worker. She and her three young children are threatened with deportation to Nigeria, where they fear abuse.

The UKBA failed to attend the meeting. Flora is not sure whether further attempts will be made to deport the family.
