Management through terror. That’s the Tory council’s strategy in Birmingham, where the Conservative conference begins this weekend.

The Tory–Lib Dem coalition that runs Birmingham council is blazing a trail for its bigger version in Westminster.

The council has told 26,000 workers they will be sacked if they do not accept massively reduced terms and conditions.

A worker who currently earns £15,233 a year could see their wages slashed to £11,794—a loss of £3,439.

Unions were set to protest on Wednesday this week, including a rally in Victoria Square from 5.30pm.

The council is deadly serious about cutting a swathe through services and jobs. The union must organise swiftly for strikes to defend services and workers’ lives.
