Steve Hedley arrest is attack on tube workers' union

Issue No. 2222

In a disgraceful attack on the RMT union, Steve Hedley, its London regional organiser, has been arrested on suspicion of common assault after allegedly trying to stop scabs crossing a picket line.

Steve was detained by British Transport Police after an incident at Mile End station during the last strike on 7 September at 6.15am.

He was later released on police bail but has to report back to a London police station this week.

I arrived at Mile End a few minutes after the alleged incident took place. It was of such significance that not one person mentioned it in the hour I was on the picket line.
