Hundreds of students protested outside the Dover Christ Church Academy school on Monday of this week over changes to their lunch hour.
Students demonstrated in the school hall before up to 300 staged a mass walkout.
Jack Dash, a student at the school, said, “We tried a peaceful approach, petitions and such, but it was thrown in our faces.
“We all thought this would get a rise and are glad we got the response we did. If the problem isn’t sorted out we’ll just be back out the front again.”
One student, asked by the BBC if they had been responsible, replied, “I think we have the right to protest.”
Police were called—but one admitted that, “The vast majority were engaged in a peaceful protest.”
Dover Christ Church Academy in Kent opened less than a month ago. It was formerly Archers Court College, which closed to make way for the academy.
