Over 100 Astra Zeneca pharmaceutical workers marched in Macclesfield, Cheshire, on Friday of last week.
The GMB union members were holding their fifth strike against an assault on their pensions.
Astra Zeneca made over £2 billion in profit last year. The site director has handed himself £17,000 a month extra on his pension.
Yet the firm maintains that cuts need to be made.
The march was heavily restricted by police who only gave permission for the event to go ahead late Wednesday evening and didn’t allow protesters to go down the main street.
Workers were undeterred, taking a route through a housing estate.
The mood was confident and lively with drums, claxons, whistles and vuvuzelas.
Local people came out of their houses along the route and applauded the strikers.
As the march reached the town hall square, people from the local community came out to support it.
Stewards went to meet with the local MP.
Workers are determined to keep up the fight and more strike dates are set to be announced this week.
