Bulldog workers settle their strike

Issue No. 2223

Unite union members at Rollins Bulldog Tools in Wigan, Lancashire, have ended their all-out strike.

Workers struck after their bosses refused to give them a decent pay rise—despite the fact that they had agreed to pay freezes for the past three years. They had also had their working hours cut.

Bosses originally offered a 1 percent pay increase, plus an extra day’s holiday.

They have now offered 1 percent this year, backdated to June, and promised a 1.5 percent pay rise next year. Workers voted unanimously to accept the offer.
