Tribunal win for victimised worker

Issue No. 2223

Steve Acheson, a blacklisted electrician, won an Employment Tribunal last week in Manchester against the Beaver Management Services agency.

Steve was dismissed from Fiddlers Ferry power station in December 2008.

The tribunal accepted that it was unfair, but not proven to be down to his trade union activities.

But it did find that the refusal of employment in July 2008—when Steve was offered a job at 8.10am, only to have it withdrawn by 12 noon—was because of his trade union activity.
