The UCU lecturers’ union will hold a special sector conference in Manchester on 25 November.
The union’s higher education committee met earlier this month and agreed the need for a conference.
Lecturers are currently in dispute with their employers over attacks on jobs, pay and pensions.
As the Tories ramp up their attacks on education, it is even more important to build a united fight. Lecturers will need to ballot for action as soon as possible to stop the assault.
The special sector conference will discuss a timetable for action.
UCU members should meet in their branches to discuss motions to the conference and to elect delegates.
Workers should resist any attacks on their jobs, pay and pensions and urgently build a fight to defend jobs and education.
