Bucks NHS staff vote for a ballot

Issue No. 2224

More than 200 hospital workers in Buckinghamshire have voted to ballot for strikes.

The workers in the Unison union have been in dispute with their employers, Medirest, for two years.

The cleaners, porters and kitchen staff work at Wycombe and Amersham hospitals.

Medirest only pays statutory sick pay of £79.15 a week.

Some workers say they have gone to work sick because they can’t afford not to—putting their own, and patients’, health at risk.
