GMB union members at the drugs firm Astra Zeneca’s site in Macclesfield struck for the seventh time over pensions on Friday of last week.
The company wants to close the workers’ final salary pension scheme even though it had a 12 percent rise in pre-tax profits for the second quarter of 2010.
These rose from £1.67 billion to £1.87 billion.
Astra Zeneca workers remain determined and there is a good mood on the picket lines.
More strikes were planned for Friday of this week and next week.
The union should step up the action to increase the pressure on the bosses and win this dispute.
Vi-Spring strikes continue
GMB union members at the Plymouth bed manufacturer Vi-Spring remain on strike over the sacking of shop steward Jimmy Dent.
