Fife shipyard workers vote to strike

Issue No. 2225

Shipyard workers at Rosyth in Fife have voted to strike over pay, and the unions were planning to call action as Socialist Worker went to press.

Members of the Unite, GMB and Ucatt unions at the Babcock-owned site all voted for action against a 2.5 percent pay offer.

Some 4,500 employees working at the Devenport yard received a 5.2 percent pay rise as part of a two-year deal, while white collar staff at Rosyth have got 4.9 percent.
