Anti-capitalists were gearing up for major protests this week at the G20 summit of world leaders in Seoul, Korea.
Demonstrations began last weekend with 40,000 people joining a trade union-led march and rally.
The summit is being held on a specially built artificial “floating island” on the city’s Han River.
Some 50,000 police have been drafted in to protect the heads of state. But activists remain determined.
“We will let them know that we do not think ordinary people should pay for the crisis,” said a member of All Together, Socialist Worker’s sister organisation in Korea.
