Teachers in the NUT union are joining parents and school students to fight plans to close a primary school in Islington, north London, by holding a public meeting this week.
Moreland School is set to close next year and students would be transferred to nearby St Luke’s School.
Children would be stuck in temporary classrooms while a new school is built on the Moreland’s site.
All students would then move to the new building, and St Luke’s would close.
Teachers and parents are outraged that their calls for school building improvements are being used as an excuse to close the school altogether.
They also fear that the plans will involve job cuts.
