Cheap labour is the aim of Tory welfare attacks

Issue No. 2228

Those who are deemed fit to work and are currently on Jobseeker’s Allowance will be forced to accept any job going.

If they can’t find one they will be forced to undertake “Mandatory Work Activity” for four weeks.

This means doing demeaning work in return for £65.45 a week for over 25s or £51.85 if you are under—and a £1 an hour top-up.

Hundreds of thousands of people will be forced to work for less than the £5.93 an hour minimum wage.

The result will be to create a mass army of low paid workers.
