Issue No. 2228

The Stop the War Coalition, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and the British Muslim Initiative have called Saturday’s march.

It is the latest in the series of anti-war protests in Britain that have showed the huge opposition to the “war on terror”, which has brought horror to Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001.

The range of backing for the protest shows the support the movement has.

Organisations backing it include War on Want, Unite the union, the University and College Union, Pax Christi, Islamic Forum of Europe, the Cordoba Foundation and Friends of Al Aqsa.

Speakers at the rally will include Tony Benn, Ken Livingstone, Eric Joyce MP, Guardian journalist Seumas Milne, rapper Lowkey, human rights’ lawyer Phil Shiner and academic Terry Eagleton.

Time to go: Troops out of Afghanistan

Demonstrate: Saturday 20 November, 12 noon, Speakers’ Corner, Hyde Park, London
