Lecturers at Richmond College in Twickenham, south west London, struck on Thursday of last week against up to 80 job cuts.
The workers are furious after their UCU union obtained financial documents showing that cuts to teaching posts are to shore up the college’s reserve funds rather than to save money.
Lecturers plan more action for Monday of next week.
Dave Carrier, chair of the college’s UCU branch, said, “We say we want more teachers in the classroom, not more money in the bank.”
Some lecturers have even resigned because of the threat to jobs. The UCU should escalate its action and fight for every job.
