Save the 100 Club

Issue No. 2231

Iconic London music venue the 100 Club is set to close—but campaigners intend to fight to save it.

The club on Oxford Street has been hosting live music since 1942, but it will close its doors by Christmas unless the campaign is successful.

The group wants to take over the club and run it as a not-for-profit organisation.

Former London mayor Ken Livingstone is backing the campaign. He said, “The 100 Club is one of the last of central London’s music venues. Its historical heritage is unsurpassed.

“Throughout its 70 year history it has been at the forefront of London’s music scene, from jazz to punk rock and the famous northern soul all-nighters.

“I completely support the campaign to stop it closing.“
