Trelleborg manufacturing

Issue No. 1873

BULLYING management have provoked a dispute at the Trelleborg manufacturing company in Leicester.

Managers wanted to force shop floor workers to wear red identity tags while taking breaks. Anger at out of touch managers has built up over some time. Workers have been allocated a small area outside where they can go during their breaks to smoke. Electronic tagging was the final straw.

Deric Whale, the TGWU union regional industrial organiser, said, 'We are living in the 21st century when people at work should be afforded respect and dignity, not treated like naughty schoolchildren.'

Shop floor workers organised one-hour stoppages on each shift and banned overtime. They are now in talks to try to resolve the dispute.
