The Unison union is turning up the heat against union activist John McDermott by trying to claim legal costs, which could amount to thousands of pounds.
John went to a national executive meeting in June 2009 having received the most votes in an election. He was asked to leave, but refused.
John has since received a three-year ban from office for allegations that he brought the union into disrepute.
John has lodged a complaint with the Certification Office for trade unions and an Employment Tribunal. One supporter said, “Because Unison has engaged an expensive legal team, John may face a heavy legal bill.”
