The parliamentary Commons Standards and Privileges Committee has recommended suspending the parliamentary passes of former Labour ministers Geoff Hoon, Stephen Byers and Richard Caborn for breaching lobbying rules.
They promised a Sunday Times journalist, posing as a lobbyist, that they could provide services after leaving parliament—for a fee.
Hoon, former defence secretary, claimed he could access confidential information about the government’s strategic defence review.
Byers, former trade and industry minister, said that he was “like a cab for hire”.
