Housing activists plan protest

Issue No. 2233

Housing campaigners have called a mass lobby of parliament over cuts to housing benefit, plans for new fixed term tenancies and hikes in rents.

The lobby is being organised by new umbrella campaign group Housing Emergency, backed by Defend Council Housing, trade unions, MPs and some councils.

A report from the Institute of Fiscal Studies says that planned cuts to housing benefit alone will push 100,000 more children into poverty.

Mass lobby of parliament, 12-4pm, 15 February, Central Hall, Westminster
