Journalists at the BBC Arabic Service began a 48 hour strike on Tuesday.

There was defiant mood on the picket line as over 160 NUJ members supported a completely solid strike.

All live news had been knocked off the air with repeats and prerecorded programmes replacing them. Even a correspondent dispatched to Tunisia was backing the walkout.

The dispute, which has seen members working to rule for five days before the strike, centres around rota changes as the BBC try to cut costs.
