Lecturers set to begin strike ballots

Issue No. 2236

Ballots for strikes will begin next week in the lecturers’ UCU union on jobs, pay and pensions.

Yes votes could see lecturers in colleges and universities across Britain taking joint strikes in the week before the TUC demonstration on 26 March—and potentially on budget day.

Lecturers should be organising now to prepare for the ballots.

Meanwhile, lecturers at Liverpool Hope University held an emergency union meeting last week over a threat to 100 jobs. Workers called on their UCU union to ballot them for industrial action.
