Some 800 people marched in Liverpool on Saturday against the council’s plan to cut 1,500 jobs.

But even though this is a Labour council making the cuts, there was a Labour Party banner on the march saying “No to coalition cuts”.

Labour council leader Joe Anderson even made an appearance on the Joint Trade Union Committee organised march—but was berated by protesters.

“What else can I do?” he asked. “Resign,” came the answer.
