The Unite union has still named no new strike dates for cabin crew at British Airways—despite workers voting for strikes nearly two weeks ago.
Unite must activate the vote by calling action within 28 days of the ballot’s closure—by 18 February at the latest—otherwise the ballot becomes invalid.
Bassa, the cabin crew section of Unite, reports that BA has “made no contact with Unite whatsoever, at any level”.
Workers won huge support during their 22 days of strikes last year. A programme of strikes could force bosses to retreat.
Mobilising the full weight of the union behind cabin crew, and escalating the dispute by involving other BA workers, could score a significant victory.
