Friern Barnet secondary school in Barnet, north London, suspended teacher and NUT union branch president, Sue Caldwell, on Monday 17 January.
Sue has been under investigation by her head teacher since November. This follows one parent’s complaint that Sue encouraged students to join protests to defend education.
She denies the charges.
The head says that Sue’s suspension is necessary to complete the investigation.
Others see it as an act of victimisation.
This is the only school in Britain to have taken such action against a teacher. NUT and Unison union groups have signed a letter demanding Sue’s reinstatement.
