GMB moves to a ballot at Remploy

Issue No. 2238

Disabled factory workers at Remploy sites across Britain are building towards strikes against redundancies.

Bosses have announced plans to push through “voluntary” redundancies in 54 factories.

Workers at Remploy are set to go to the central executive council of the GMB union to seek authority for a strike ballot on Tuesday 15 February.

Following the closure of 29 Remploy factories in 2008, the vast majority of workers who were made redundant are still unemployed.
