The UCU is holding national strike ballots to defend jobs, pay and pensions.
If workers vote yes, more than 100,000 workers could be out on strike this month in the first national battle against cuts.
Higher education lecturers are balloting over the employers’ failure to provide national guarantees on job security and pay. There is also a ballot to defend Universities Superannuation Scheme pensions in older, “pre‑1992” universities. Both ballots end on Wednesday.
Further education lecturers are balloting to reject a
0.2 percent pay offer and to defend their Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS). Lecturers in post-1992 universities are also balloting to defend TPS. The ballots end on 11 March.
