Not content with slashing jobs and services, the Tories now want to steal our pensions.
Labour right winger Lord Hutton’s recommendations to the government means public sector pension changes hitting six million workers.
We are told that public sector workers are privileged with gold plated pensions. This is a lie—most are left to survive on less than £5,000 a year.
Disgustingly, work and pensions secretary Iain Duncan Smith has even suggested that children help fund their parents’ retirement. The government knows that it’s impossible for pensioners to survive on what they can squirrel away each month.
The Tories expect the poor to keep paying for the crisis, while the rich get richer.
The wealthiest 1 percent get some £10 billion in tax relief on their pensions every year.
We have to make a stand against the government’s attacks.
On Saturday 26 March we have the chance to march together in our hundreds of thousands against the Tories. Join the TUC national demonstration on that day at 11am, Victoria Embankment, London, for a march to Hyde Park.
We also have to be prepared to strike together to bring this government down.
