Women’s TUC conference

Issue No. 2243

A mood of militancy swept through the women’s TUC conference last week.

The conference marked the centenary of International Women’s Day.

Speakers from all unions vowed to follow the examples set by women trade unionists in Wisconsin and Egypt—and to take coordinated strike action to defend jobs, pensions and services.

Delegates made clear the importance of the demonstration on 26 March, and said it is the start of the fight against the cuts.
