Southampton council workers action against sackings

Issue No. 2243

Council workers in Southampton are planning industrial action as the council issues a threat of mass sackings.

The council has sent out letters to every worker telling them that if they do not agree to pay cuts they will be sacked.

But the union has already rejected the wage cuts in a ballot—and now says it will ballot for industrial action in response. It plans strikes across the council in May.

The union has called a lunch-time protest for Thursday 24 March. Assemble 12.30pm, Hoglands Park
