A vote to strike in the Driving Standards Agency

Issue No. 2244

Driving examiners and administration workers in the Driving Standards Agency have voted for strikes over job losses and closures.

Bosses want to close the Cardiff office and then shut the Newcastle one too. But there is a mood to fight.

The ballot of 2,000 PCS civil service union members saw a 62 percent vote for strikes and 83 percent vote for action short of a strike. There was a 43 percent turnout.

Union reps were to meet this week to discuss what action to take. The union will need to call hard-hitting strikes to force management back.
