Liverpool rallies against racism

Over 100 people attended the Fighting Fascism & Islamophobia conference organised by Unite Against Fascism and the Unite union in Liverpool last Saturday.

The event brought together Unite stewards and reps, local activists and many young people from the Anthony Walker Foundation.

The EDL showed its true colours by attempting to disrupt the conference, but was easily turned away.

Barry Faulkner from Unite summed up the day: “The event was a landmark in our efforts to embed Unite within the community and involve youth and unemployed workers.

“The youngest delegate to contribute in my workshop was 15 years old. This should provide great hope for the future of our movement.”
