Council says thanks and bye

Issue No. 2247

Some 100 carers and social workers in Staffordshire have been told they will be forced to retire—just a day before a new law would have made it illegal.

Staffordshire Unison rep Jane Heath said union members were “very, very upset”.

“One member had worked there for 33 years and was given a letter saying we want you to finish in June, but thank you for your service,” she said.

The union is urging workers to appeal the notices.
